Tracey Lennon - Rescue Board
Rescue Board
acrylic on canvas
30cm x 30cm
Ref. 53422
Rescue boards are part of every lifeguard station in Australia. They are a fast and reliable method of saving swimmers. Like paddle boards with multiple hand straps, they can be used as floating platforms for resuscitation or to save a number of swimmers at one time.
Rescue tubes are yellow strips of foam attached to a long cord and a belt often hanging next to a board. The Lifesaver puts the belt over their body like a harness and swims out. The tube is then handed to the swimmer and can be wrapped around and clipped securely behind their back. It takes a great amount of skill and training to use both the board and the belt.
