A classic Australian rural scene I chose to paint for this exhibition to celebrate traditional values in a world that has changed so much since the gallery opened forty years ago. I purposely used a much more detailed technique harking to those days. I did a small plain air work of this few years ago. I was immediately attracted to that fallen tree. It makes a fabulous foreground As a strong horizontal shape I could contrast with those vertical saplings.
