Not all memory sings.
 Some is bark-deep,
 where claw once gripped
 and shadow passed in flight.
 The Shiny Black Cockatoo
 now scarce, not silent
 drifts through fading canopy.
 These boxed lines hold nothing,
 but the trees still hold everything:
 the loss,  the warning,
 the echo of what we forgot to honour.
