Sunset (Still Life) captures that moment just after sunset, with the sky glowing hot pink. A striped red and yellow sunshade frames a table filled with still life. Yellow poppies on the right balance the pops of yellow on the left, pulling the composition together. Interestingly, this piece was painted horizontally. It was only after Dan laid down the major colours that the painting took shape, eventually turning into a vertical composition.
