Vivienne has been refining her craft for over 20 years and specialises in the style of figurative art, characterized by its simplicity, subtle colours, and a refined yet whimsical perspective. Her pieces often evoke a sense of nostalgia with a touch of fantasy, inviting viewers to explore a world of imagination and innocence.
Being an avid traveller, her art subjects are largely influenced by the architecture and history of ancient countries and of Europe in particular.
Vivienne finds that she is unaware of the meaning in each art piece at its commencement. Rather, the stories reveal themselves as the painting process develops when memories of travels and ancient tales and fables are recalled. Tragedy does not make an appearance in Vivienne’s work as each piece is painted for the pure pleasure of feeling joy to both herself and the viewer. Each piece suggests a respect for the past and its traditions and the excitement of the potential of future possibilities.
Vivienne hopes that others can experience an “escape from the normal” when viewing her work - the unexpected events that can occur and the possibilities that may present themselves when people are open to interpreting images in different ways.
Born in Victoria before locating to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, her works have been sold across Australia and overseas most often through “Word of Mouth” and private commissions as well as several Art Shows in Melbourne, Victoria and in stores in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. Vivienne has also donated art for Charity Auctions in Queensland.
Always respectful of ancient art techniques, Vivienne is also currently working on a line of watercolour patterns for her own soft furnishing homewares which are being hand block printed by artisans in Jaipur India.
