“Whilst the subject matter is important to me..it is the process of the painting that excites..the journey and relationship that begins with the first brush strokes..the mark making and experimentation with different mediums and my response to the surface as well as the subject.
Some of my works evolve from personal history while others formulate from poetry, music and stories..often the paintings have meta meanings that engage the viewer to form their own interpretation.”

Julie resides on a property at Grafton and has been exhibiting as a professional artist since 2000. In her late teens she met and married her husband John who was a very successful premier jockey on the northern rivers NSW and her early years were dedicated to her young family and the racing industry. In 1992 Julie made history by becoming the first female to be elected to the Clarence River Jockey Club Board of Directors. She has been a finalist in many art prizes in Australia as well as received international recognition for her work.
