This exhibition, Un Lent Adieu, was inspired by her 2024 summer sejour in and around her 500 year old cottage in Burgundy, France. Lavender and iris are in full bloom, sunflower and canola fields a momentary joy. We catch glimpses through the jardin du potager to the neighbour’s house and see fields stretching out towards little villages as the hot sun bleaches the horizon or storms crackle by. These paintings have been captured quickly, inviting the observer to look deeper, tempting one to step a little closer, gaze a little longer, before the sun shifts, shadows move and the brief magic moves on.
