Learn more about Delia Vilhelm

My art is a reflection of the intricate dance between the tangible and the intangible, the seen and the unseen. It seeks to capture the essence of moments often overlooked, to bring to light the beauty hidden in the mundane.
With a deep reverence for nature and the human experience, my art often blurs the lines between the organic and the abstract, infusing my pieces with a sense of ethereal beauty and wonder.
Through the medium of painting, I explore the interplay of colors, shapes, patterns and textures to convey emotions, memories, and dreams. Each stroke of my brush is a whisper of my inner world, an invitation for viewers to embark on their own personal journey of interpretation.
As a mean to structure my paintings, I use collage. The affinity for remixing revision is conjuring a new language - an union of the real and abstract. In this way I pay homage to Dada and also rococo ornamentation. Dada collage strives to represent disparate ideas while rococo celebrates highly decorative and serpentine curvature in art. Mainly the works on paper are made using magazine clippings.
Each piece is cut and dismembered form recognisable origin, used to create something new.
My art is non figurative. The difference between abstract and non figurative is that the later comes from quite clear shapes and ideas. By reducing recognizable forms I invite the viewer to dive deep inside the artwork and see the hidden signs and language.
The paintings are a dialogue between the observer and the observed. It is an invitation to explore the depths of one’s imagination, to question the boundaries of reality, and to find solace in the act of creation. Through my work, I hope to evoke emotions, spark curiosity, and inspire a renewed appreciation for the world that surrounds us.
