The Big Pineapple
acrylic on canvas
54cm x 45cm

The Big Pineapple at Nambour was a must visit for generations of Queensland kids. The parfaits, the macadamia nut train and the climb up to the core of the great pineapple to view the fields of the Sunshine Planation, were all part of the magic.
Created by Bill and Lyn Taylor, in 1971 as an agri-tourism showcase it featured fruit, nuts, spices and sugar cane. It attracted royalty (Charles and Di in 1983) and 1 million visitors a year. It was heritage listed in 2009, closed down in 2010 and in June this year, reopened.
