Chris Seater, when young was always drawing; following a logical path he studied Art & Design at Swinburne University.

His paintings now are an exploration of character; in whatever he paints he looks for the underlining essence of a subject, after the initial drawing is made his technique is free flowing quite abstract.

The freedom and control of the medium aids his focus on the deeper more abstract elements of his painting, colour, line, shade and shape, form from the flow of paint.

Birds were the first experiment with the technique and the medium the style gave them a lightness indicative of the subject, a client asked for a dog, the eyes are the most difficult to ensure a true representation of the character of the subject.

Chris lives and works in his studio in St Kilda in Victoria, Australia.
